M1: Texual Analysis of Shameless (not completed)

A girl narrating with a poem talking about how she wanted to be looked after by her parents however her mother is not living with them and her dad is represented as a drunk, this gives us a little bit of background of the main characters story and what happen since the other episodes like a little recap
‘Frank’ is represented as a poor man/drunk through his rough clothing representing that he cannot support his family and he does nothing with his life which would relate to the narration at the start of the scene
Daughter is dressed with a plain vest the effect of this is she represents how poor the family is and how they live of benefits which explains why the bay lifts came and started to take their belongings because of the main character ‘Frank’ taking money loans without paying back.
High angle shot was applied when ‘frank’ was on the floor looking vulnerable that he would beg for money showing the typical male character where they are vulnerable for money.
Low angle shot on the policeman to make him more dominant and higher authority character at the scene while the bay lifts in front of him look like they did not have any control of power at that situation
Bay lift shown with a more dominant role before the policeman arrives and they seemed more like the villains at the scene because of the low angle shot on the bay lifts making their presence seem more powerful
A Flashback was used when the character ‘frank’ was shown at the pub to represent that his drunk which would explains why he has no job, also why he wants money so much. This flashback also represents when he signed for the TV which came by the mail.
A Shot reverse shot was used to show the interaction between characters when he is opening mail gives an effect that the family wondered why he came so early just to come for the benefits.
A point of view shot is used to show the main character ‘frank’ looking at the post this is applied to look through the eyes of the character which is the post.
Warped effect was used to influence the reason why he was drunk during the flashback.
A high angle shot was used to ‘frank’ to show the impression that he was begging for money like he does it every day.
Zoom shot was used to show that it was his fault and not any of the characters around him makes the audience easier to know which character committed to the signing of the TV.
The door bell signals that the bay lift came the sound was used to build particular tension and also stop the arguments of all the characters at the scene.
The police siren was used to add the effect of the character ‘frank’ and the bay lift because of frank trying to run away from the bay lifts and another to indicate that the bay lifts was breaking the law because they started to take objects.
Fast paced comical music used in that particular scene to indicate that the character ‘frank’ was in a game show as if he gets something at the end of the music.
A roulette sound in the background indicates that when the post was coming through it was like a game show because at the end that he could win something.
A panning shot was used to show a group of characters looking at their watches to indicate why the character ‘frank’ came home at this particular time which was for the benefits.
An establishing shot was used to show where the set was in or where they live, which is in a poor deprived area to indicate how they live off benefits.
A jump cut editing was used to zoom into the gyro to show its importance to ‘frank ’ this is to shorten the editing time making it easier for the editor because the particular scene could be recorded at anytime without any of the actors on set.
A crashing sound to indicate that the game show scene music was over and that he did not win anything.
Happy background music when ‘frank’ was walking to indicate that he knows when he receives post for benefits.
